This way, it becomes possible to customize error pages served by an external HTTP server by

respectively interpreting these URL parameters.

Password Change Enforcement

With firmware version 5.2.4, it is now possible to configure Barracuda NG Firewall to enforce password

changes for administrators. The new setting can be found in

Administrators > Administrative Settings on

single boxes if username / password authentication is set as authentication method.

The respective administrator user will be asked to set the new password on her or his next login.

AVIRA Virus Scanner Rollback

The Barracuda NG Firewall Virus Scanner service offers in firmware version 5.2.4 a new functionality

to roll back broken AVIRA engine or pattern updates in order to put the Virus Scanner back into working

state in such cases.

The rollback mechanism is either invoked automatically on detecting a broken update or can be

triggered manually by opening an SSH connection to the unit and creating the following file:

/var/phion/run/virscan/dorollback

Configurable Input/Output Scheduler

With Barracuda NG Firewall 5.2.4, it is now possible to configure the system’s input/output scheduling

behavior by selecting a specific I/O scheduler in order to increase the unit’s performance.

The setting can be found in

Box > Advanced Configuration > System Settings > I/O Settings > I/O Scheduler.

It defaults to

Automatic.

Raw TCP Mode for the Forwarding Firewall

Raw TCP mode allows to handle sole chunks of TCP traffic without analyzing the whole contiguous

TCP stream. However, it is limited in terms of intrusion prevention, application detection, overall TCP

state tracking and other aspects.
